In a recent blog post, we shared answers to some of the inquiries we’re asked most often at our Demotte, IN Ford dealership. One topic we didn’t touch on in that post is how often drivers should have their wheel or suspension alignment checked.
It’s wise to have your car’s alignment checked once per year. Ideally, you’ll have your alignment inspected every 6,000 miles or every other time you get your oil and oil filter changed.
While those are general guidelines, some occurrences may make it necessary to bring your automobile into our Ford service center near Rensselaer, IN more often. If you notice a sign that your alignment is off, you should bring your car in sooner rather than later. Here are some signs that indicate your alignment is out of whack:
- Your steering wheel is at an angle when you’re traveling straight.
- Your vehicle pulls to the side.
- Your tires are wearing unevenly or faster than they should.
- Your fuel economy isn’t as good as it used to be.
If your car is involved in an accident, you go over a pothole too fast, or you drive over a speed bump without slowing down, your wheels could become misaligned. When any of those things happen, make an appointment for a wheel alignment.
